Research Engineer Sony CSL – Paris

Cyran Aouameur

Bio

Cyran’s focus is on turning the music team’s research breakthroughs into practical prototypes and demos that enable creative collaborations with artists, making cutting-edge technologies both accessible and impactful in artistic contexts.

Driven by a passion for bridging the gap between research and real-world application, he took on the challenge of transforming this research paper into a prototype that could be genuinely useful for musicians. This experience sparked his interest in UX/UI development and building strong relationships with artists.

Cyran is an engineer with a degree from École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Nancy and a Master’s in Acoustics, Signal Processing, and Computer Science Applied to Music (ATIAM) from IRCAM. As a self-taught musician, his primary instrument has always been the computer, he became fascinated with taking a scientific approach to music technology.

Thus, his journey into the intersection of technology and music began at Sony CSL – Paris in 2018, where he contributed to research on drum sound synthesis using generative models (VAEs).
