Sustainable Cities

The Sustainable Cities research line is committed to providing new tools for understanding and monitoring urban environments, focusing on all those aspects that could make them more sustainable. In a novel and potentially ground-breaking approach, the Sustainable Cities research merges methods and frameworks ranging from Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistical Physics and Complex Systems Science.

All the projects realised in this area are gathered under the Whatif-Machine framework: all the tools and studies are designed to allow the general public or decision-makers to explore new scenarios in a friendly and understandable way (Read more about this here.).

The final purpose is to enable future cities to exploit their full economic, social and innovation potential to improve citizens’ quality of life and allow them to realise themselves, fostering inclusion and reducing inequalities.
