Every day billions of users produce a massive amount of data, providing information about trends and preferences. It’s a complex world which demands complex tools to be described and understood. In my research I adopt tools of Complex Systems Physics and Information Theory trying to detect users’ collective behavior inside streaming ecosystems, thus quantifying the information present in the statistics associated with the users’ activities. Moreover, machine learning algorithms are widely implemented to make previsions about popularity of tracks in different streaming platforms. As a physicist and fond of social dynamics, my ultimate goal is to understand what makes a track popular and which are the possible influences between different platforms of streaming.
