Urban agriculture and the French Method: the event in Paris

On Thursday the 11th our researchers from the Sustainability Team at the Sony Computer Science Laboratories – Paris (Sony CSL – Paris) are attending an event dedicated to urban agriculture and in particular to the French Method.

The French Method represents a set of specific techniques and agricultural knowledge developed in the last years that have enabled the Ile-de-France territory to achieve an exceptional level of performance. Much more than a simple catalog of techniques and practices, the French Method is a concept combining the art of living, the horticultural design and the relational aesthetics (man/plant, plant/plant, man/man).

Within this framework Peter Hanappe and David Colliaux will take part to this event which is at the crossroads of the seminar and the debate about rediscovering the methods and techniques of the 19th century under the light of the recents development and with the collaboration of  speakers from the fields: researchers, professors or experienced market gardeners.

Among the other specialised speeches, David Colliaux will speak about how to make this plural agricultural heritage legible for everybody and Peter Hanappe will give an insight into robotics for urban agriculture and experimental farm, giving a point of view on whether it is a  winning combination or not.

The event is organized by Fab City Grand Paris within the Fab City Hub, as part of the European Centrinno project. In partnership with WoMa, fabrique de quartier, Sony CSL – Paris, Vergers Urbains and Volumes.
