Scientific research is about resolving mysteries, overcoming obstacles or solving problems. These features lend themselves to interesting stories with great narrative potential. And yet, many scientific papers lack basic storytelling mechanisms. The aim of this workshop is to explore storytelling techniques and how they can be used in scientific papers while maintaining the scientific rigor required by the world’s top journals. Participants will be challenged to embark on a journey that is an evolutionary process fuelled by their own creations. They will rewrite and refine their text until the point at which it “can only be worsened”.
The workshop will last two full days. It will be held on January 30-31, 2019 at Institut des Systèmes Complexes Paris Île-de-France, 113 rue Nationale, 75013, Paris, France.
We will not disclose details of the program in order to not bias the expected evolutionary process of the writing.
