Lara Verheyen recently obtained her PhD titled Procedural Semantics for Human-like Language Understanding in Situated Environments at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel under the supervision of Prof. dr. Paul Van Eecke and Prof. dr. Katrien Beuls. She is particularly interested in building intelligent systems that can understand language in a human-like way. For this, she combines her backgrounds in Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence. She now brings her expertise in human-like intelligent systems to the VALAWAI project that takes on the important challenge of investigating how value-aware AI systems can be built.
